Catch up since Easter

Before Easter:
Maureen and Chuck arrived about 3:30pm on Friday. We went to Baytown Seafood to eat. Then, we watched TV and sat around.
Saturday, I went to Robertson's to buy Butterfly Weed. I bought 16 plants in 3"pots before they got there. Maureen and I went to the Dollar Store to buy little Easter basket gifts for Gabriel. Melanie and Jorge came over with Gabriel about 1:30pm. Gabriel loves to play outside and we walked up and down the street and pushed him on his tricycle. Then we brought out the sidewalk chalk and he thought that was the cat's meow. He really enjoyed scribbling on the sidewalk. We went to Golden Choral to eat about 5:30pm. Gabriel behaved himself in the restaurant for once and really liked the tilapia and french fries. Pat and Mark, Sare and Joseph came over after we ate. Melanie made a pineapple upside down cake for Chuck's birthday on Wednesday and we had cake and ice cream. Since we would not see him on Easter, I gave Gabriel his little gifts. Melanie and Jorge were supposed to celebrate Easter at Bay Area Park with Jorge's extended family.
Sunday, was spent in church. Since I am in the orchestra, Pat and I had to be at the church at 6:45 am for early practice and played in the 7:30, 9, and 10:30 services. We left after the music in the early service and had breakfast in the orchestra room before the 9am service. We went home to eat after church--sandwiches, then we all took naps. I had to be back at church at 5pm for the evening service.
Monday, I was off. We went to breakfast about 10am--late start and Chuck and Maureen packed up and left about 11:30am. I could have gone fishing or something but I stupidly made a doctor's appointment in the middle of the afternoon 1pm with doctor Muayad. It was a follow up for the h. pylori. He said that he will check me in about a year by blowing into a tube to check to see if I am cured. I reminded him that he said he would do an MRI of my chest and abdomen if the numbness and night sweats didn't stop after treatment but now he says he will order a CAT scan of my abdomen and not chest because it would be questioned why a GI Guy would be ordering an MRI of a chest. I am not confident that I am ever going to find out what is causing the night sweats and numbness in my left arm--or maybe find out when it is too late.
After the appointment I called Carol and we went driving to Galveston. I was looking for a kayak launch on East beach somewhere. Then we came back here and had sandwiches.
Tuesday, I had to go back to work. Mostly, easy day. Wednesday, I had a kid come in from lunch with his mouth bleeding. He was eating Pizza and the two bottom teeth were loose. I pulled one of the teeth but the other kept bleeding. Finally, I pulled it, too. Both were very loose. That was a first--pulling two teeth from the same kid in the same day. I pulled one other tooth on Wednesday too. Had orchestra practice that night--now practicing for Pops and Praise. Today (Thursday) was uneventful at work. I am finishing up my acanthosis nigricans screenings.

Good Friday

I had an 8am appt. with Dr. Matwijiw today. I arrived about 10 til and left about 10. In pursuit of the cause of the sensation of heat and numbness in my left arm, after being checked out by a neurologist, cardiologist, and gastroenterologist, now, I am seeing an endocrinologist. Dr. Mat does not feel that this is a hormonal problem because it is one-sided in a specific area. He said that doesn't happen with hormones-premarin, synthroid, or miacalcin. He says that he thinks I may be on too much synthroid though and said he is "worried about my bones". Apparently too much synthroid can hasten bone loss making osteoporosis worse. I did not know that. He said he will do a neck xray to check for a "cervical rib". He says that sometimes people, more commonly women, grow an extra rib in their neck. It can cause pressure on nerves and blood vessels when your body relaxes--hence, the numbness and heat only when I'm asleep. He said if that is negative, he will do a cat scan of my neck and upper chest. He ordered a UA, vit D levels, and a comprehensive metabolic panel. He also ordered a bone scan since it has been about a year. I need to call and schedule that. He also ordered a TSH, free T4,T3, SPEP (I don't know what that is). Hopefully with all that we can figure this thing out.
Chuck and Maureen showed up about 3:30 pm. They will be visiting thru Monday morning. The plan is: Melanie and Jorge will bring Gabriel over tonight after dinner to babysit. We will go to Baytown Seafood around 6:00pm.
Tomorrow, Melanie and Jorge will come over in the afternoon. We will eat at Golden Coral and come back to the house to play poker. Sara and Joseph will come over too. Sunday we are all going to church. I have to be there at 6:45am for practice before the sunrise service, they will come later. I have to play in the evening service and they will go to a movie. Chuck and Maureen will leave Monday morning. I have a followup visit with Dr. Muayad at 1:00pm--bad timing. I would have liked to have gone fishing on Monday. Oh, well.

The Lord's Supper

Last night, we had orchestra practice in preparation for the service tonight.
After school today, I had to go quickly to Baytown to pick up the test results from December thru now to take with me to Dr. Matwijiw in the morning. I have an 8am appointment.
Then, I had to eat in a hurry and go up to the church for practice and just go home at 9:00pm.
The service was nice, the preacher did a good job. Russ did a dramatization that was really good and Clarence did a cello solo.

Eddie's Colonoscopy and EGD

Eddie had his colonoscopy and EGD today by Dr. Muayad. Everything went well, he had no abnormalities. The worst part was the prep! I couldn't even look at the jug of prep without shivering and feeling queezy. I had to take the day off to drive him. He was hungry and wanted to go to IHOP afterward. I hate IHOPE but ate there anyway.

Rockport Weekend with Texas Lady Anglers

Jackie, Mrs. B, and I left about 1pm on Friday afternoon to Rockport for the Texas Lady Anglers weekend at the Retreat House. We had a seminar on Saturday with Captain Sally Moffitt and kayak fishing all day Sunday until 2pm.
We arrived about 4pm on Friday at the Retreat House. Only a few people were there--Jerico and Linda (our other room mate), shortly after we arrived Pat, Patty and Rochel arrived. Then everyone else sort of filtered in. Pat made the most delicious gumbo friday nite. I helped by chopping up 2 bunches of celery and peeling several pounds of shrimp. It was spicy but really good. We all just sat around and visited and got to know who everyone was. We had seen names on the message board but had not met many of the women. Many had homes in Rockport. There were 16 women there: Jo, Gretchen, Kathy, Jeannette, Jerico, Linda, Pat, Patty, Rachel, Betty, Canada, etc.
I was kind of disappointed in the seminar on Saturday but we had women of many different levels, some who had not fished much and some very experienced. Saturday afternoon we fished out back of the house in 2 large fresh water ponds and many people caught large mouth bass. My rod tip somehow got chipped and shredded my line so I didn't really fish in the pond much. Jackie did and caught several bass. I just visited and took some pictures. I was glad I bought to rod and reels so I could fish on Sunday. Jo grilled chickens on Saturday night and we dined like royalty again. Some of the ladies went to clubs Saturday night but Jackie, Mrs. B., and I were in bed, reading our books by 10.
We met at a donut shop in Rockport on Sunday morning and went to Brown and Root Flats with Captain Sally. Again, I was disappointed that they put all but 3 of us in tandems. Jackie and I rowed together. Captain Sally let us down a channel and when we got to the end, she explained the "lay of the land" and told us areas to fish. Jackie and I went into one of the lake areas and apparently most of everyone else followed Captain Sally. Five ladies caught fish--they were all with Captain Sally. They got into a school of bull reds apparently.
Then, we loaded up and went back to the Retreat House, showered, had some more of that delicious gumbo and were on our way by home. We go back about 7:45 and I cleaned my equiptment and watched a little TV and was in bed after the news--had to be at work the next day.
It was a fun weekend--even if I didn't catch any fish. It wasn't really about catching fish. It was nice to get to know the other ladies.

Livingston yesterday

Yesterday, I went to the Lake House to bring back stuff. I packed all the pots and pans, silverware, tupperware, bathroom personal stuff, and fishing stuff. Melanie and Gabriel went with me. I also trimmed the crepe myrtles and bushes in the front yard. Gabriel "helped" me. He is so much easier to work with than Melanie was. With Melanie I did a little bit of work and a whole lot of chasing and coralling her, but Gabriel likes to play right beside me and doesn't wander off. I cut the long branches and handed some of them to him and he played the the sticks--hitting stuff with them--just like a boy. Then he noticed that I was holding bundles of sticks in my hand as I cut them and he wanted to hold bundles too. So I gave the bundles to him and he very carefully placed them here and there. Then we gathered all the sticks and piled them out of the way. Melanie was talking to Jorge on the cell phone while Gabriel was outside with me. He seems to enjoy "helping" me. I really needed to rake the leaves out of the mulched flowerbeds but Melanie was getting antsy to leave so I didn't.
Today, I was tempted to skip church but I didn't. Pat picked me up about 7:45am for orchestra practice and we made it on time. I never know where I'm going to sit but today, Amy had me sit on the floor level in front of her--that was a first. I liked it there but Terry is hardly ever absent and that is her place so I don't imagine I will sit there often.
Eddie went to Sunday School today and after Pat and family were going to celebrate Seth's birthday so Eddie and I went to Golden Choral.
When we got home, I changed clothes and trimmed the crepe myrtles in the front yard. Eddie tried hard to get me to do it another time but they are already budding and waiting will only make the job harder. I brought back a chain saw from Livingston yesterday that I forgot we had so it made the job much easier. Eddie picked up the branches using a handicap assistive aid so he didn't have to bend over to pick up the branches. I was up on the latter with a chain saw.
I don't know when I'll get the crepe myrtles in the back cut. I still need to cut the pentas in the front flower bed, too.

Pat and I met Sara in Conroe for lunch

Daddy and Kitty came in yesterday, surprised everyone. Kitty had a root canal in Katy and since they were halfway here they decided to come for a visit. The stayed at Pat's. We visited last night. Jackie, Wendy, and Torian came over too. Daddy and Kitty left this morning at 10am then Pat and I drove to Conroe to meet Sara for lunch. The plan was to meet at the Texas Ranch House but found out it didn't open until 4pm so we went next door to Chili's.
Melanie called and said Jorge was too tired to trim the trees on Saturday. Gabriel has been waking up "early" at 9:30 every morning had since he doesn't get home until 5am he hasn't been getting enough sleep.
SO, Melanie and I are going to Livingston for the day tomorrow to bring back a few things--dishes, pots and pans, and fishing stuff.
I'm thinking about cleaning out the front flower bed this afternoon. Also, I guess I need to go but a chain saw to trim the trees.

Birthday

Yesterday was my birthday.
Renee came over and cleaned the house in the morning.
Then, about 4:30 I went over to Melanie and Jorge's to visit. Gabriel did his best to entertain me--or have me intertain him. He likes to play in his room with his toys. He doesn't sleep in there--just likes to play in there.
Eddie and I went to Steak N Ale about 6:30. I had the lobster. I also had 2 Peña Colatas.
We were so stuffed when we got home that Eddie went to bed and I sat in front of the TV.
